Kapilvastu Multiple Campus (KMC) stands as a pillar of education in Kapilvastu district, Province No. 5, Nepal. Established in 2037 BS (1980 AD), our journey began with a vision to bridge the gap in higher education opportunities within the region. Nestled in Taulihawa, approximately 500 meters southeast of Tilaurakot, the sacred birthplace of Lord Buddha, KMC carries a unique legacy.

Our story starts with the Kapilvastu Inter College, an initial effort in 2016 BS (1960 AD) that later affiliated with a neighboring Indian University. While this endeavor faced challenges and ultimately ceased operations, it ignited a spark for educational advancement. The years between 2016 BS (1960 AD) and 2037 BS (1980 AD) saw dedicated efforts to establish a permanent institution. Finally, in 2037 BS (1980 AD), KMC rose as a symbol of educational continuity and progress.
Responding to a Regional Need
Kapilvastu district, rich in historical, cultural, and religious significance, previously lacked a dedicated center for higher education. Students seeking opportunities beyond secondary education had to travel far, often to Butwal or Kathmandu. KMC’s establishment was a groundbreaking achievement, offering a local pathway to higher learning.
A Journey of Academic Excellence
Initially affiliated with Tribhuvan University, KMC launched its first programs – Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) in Intermediate Arts (IA) and Intermediate Commerce (I.Com). We faced initial challenges, including limited student enrollment and faculty resources. However, a growing awareness of higher education opportunities, coupled with support from neighboring districts, led to a steady rise in student numbers.
Expanding Horizons
KMC has continuously strived to evolve and cater to the evolving needs of the region. Following approval from Tribhuvan University, we introduced Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) programs in 2045 BS (1988 AD), further bolstering student enrollment. Between 2052 BS (1995 AD) and 2063 BS (2006 AD), KMC offered a technical CMA program under CTEVT, attracting students from diverse districts. In 2063 BS (2006 AD), we introduced a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program, addressing the critical need for qualified teachers in the region.
Kapilvastu Multiple Campus (KMC) has been a beacon of hope and opportunity for the people of Kapilvastu and beyond. Established in 2037 BS, KMC has grown from humble beginnings to become a leading educational institution.
Over the years, KMC has consistently strived to provide quality education and empower students. From its initial offerings to its current diverse range of programs, KMC has adapted to the evolving needs of the region.
Today, KMC stands as a testament to the power of education to transform lives. We are proud of our rich history and committed to shaping the future of our students.
